Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be reviewing Maybelline's Dream Pure BB Cream!
Last Thursday I reviewed Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream which is Maybelline's BB Cream for dry skin. The Dream Pure BB Cream is Maybelline's answer for Oily skinned people! Let's see how this plays out ;)
I bought this BB Cream at my local Warehouse for $19.99, which is cheaper in comparison to the Dream Fresh BB Cream which was $24.99 at my local Farmers.
This BB Cream claims to;
- Conceal imperfections
- Protect against the appearance of blemishes
- Oil free - non greasy
- Minimise the appearance of pores
- Clarifies the skin's look
- Conceals redness
- Hydrates and smoothes
- Complements skin tone
This BB Cream is quite pale, but oxidises a little darker than the bottle colour. The tone looks quite neutral in the photos, but is more pink toned in real life. It's a little darker than my arm, but not by too much.
These photos show: my bare face - BB Cream only, BB Cream + Powder - BB Cream after 6 hours.
(Not great at looking straight, sorry, the last picture is a different colour because it was night time when I got home!)
Coverage
The coverage is quite good! This is more like a "real" BB Cream in comparison to the Dream Fresh BB Cream. It conceals fairly well and also does a fair job of minimizing the appearances of pores. I have a bit of redness on my face (mostly around my chin and cheeks area) and it also does a good job of concealing the discolouration there too.
Texture The texture is on the thinner side, but not nearly as watery as the Dream Fresh BB Cream. Personally I find the texture great because it's not thin enough to be too sheer, but not thick enough to look cakey. It's just right.
Oil ControlPretty decent! For a BB Cream specifically made for people with oily skin it's not too disappointing, however it's not perfect. I needed some minor touch ups at the 5 hour mark, so you can see a little bit of shine in the 6 hour photo above.
Scent
It has a chemical smell, possibly because of the 2% Salicylic Acid. It's not too bad, but if you want to put your nose in it to smell it like I did, your going to smell the chemicals ><
Lasting Power
Good! The colour or effectiveness didn't wear off during the day, but there was a little bit of shine after 5 hours. I would still consider this successful though!
Things I Love
Good coverage
Decent oil control and lasting power
Affordable
Fairly Matte finish
Easy to apply
Things I don't Love
A little too dark/pink toned for me
Darkens slightly with time
Low SPF (only SPF15)
Chemical smell
Final Thoughts This is definitely my favorite out of the Western BB Cream's that I've tried so far, and the only one that I will keep! Although it's a little dark for me during winter I think it would be fine during summer so I'm going to wait another couple of month to try it out again. It's a pity that it doesn't have a higher SPF number, because then it would be the perfect quick summer BB Cream! If you've got oily or acne prone skin I'd suggest giving this one a go!
Stumbled upon this review in search of comparisons between the Western BB Creams? Don't worry, I will be doing some full comparisons between the
Revlon BB Cream, Garniers Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream, and the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream next Thursday!
