Making progress with the new Bosworth game, I picked up these leafless trees from Irregular Miniatures. They are notionally 54mm (like the game) - but I think they will do as small trees in that scale or very attractive 'normal' sized trees in smaller scales.
The idea is that you apply your own foliage. Now I quite like them as they are ... but, Bosworth being a summer battle, I laid some of that rubber bobble type foliage clusters on the open 'fingers' of one of the trees to see if I thought it worth progressing (or whether it just looked naff) ...
(with or without? What do you think?)
Expecting to be disappointed, I'm tempted to go back to the original plan and stick the foliage on. Bearing in mind that the left hand example is just with clumps balanced on, I think it is quite promising.
Not liking terrain that falls apart in use, I assume a hot glue gun is the best way of fixing foliage on to tree armatures ...
(in winter trim with some of Trebian's Elizabethan 25mm figures)
(the test set up with some 30mm flats added)
As you can see, really, these are splendid 20 to 30mm trees - just we nearly always go smaller for wargames practicalities ...
